What does "The Swede Abides" mean?

Well, "The Swede" or just "Swede" is my fraternity nickname, due to my allegiance to my ancestral country.

Abides has a few different meanings:

1) To put up with; tolerate: can't abide such incompetence.
2) To wait patiently for: “I will abide the coming of my lord” (Tennyson).
3) To withstand: a thermoplastic that will abide rough use and great heat.
4) To remain in a place.
5) To continue to be sure or firm; endure.
6) To dwell or sojourn.

If you have seen the movie The Big Lebowski, at one point the main character (The Dude) says "The Dude Abides," then the narrator, Sam Elliot, says that he can take comfort in that.  Hence where I came up for the above saying.
